We have two more official days of classes and then graduation on Wednesday April 25th and on Thursday morning at 8:05
am, we fly out of San Jose Costa Rica to head for the Repubilca Dominicana to begin
our 3 year term there at Centro Especial Genesis. Our 8+ months here
have been many things. Growing, maturing, learning, laughing, crying, walking,
more walking, frustration, happiness, boredom (well, at least the first two
weeks). These are a few that I think of right away. We are all much better at speaking,
reading, and understanding Spanish than when we came last August. We also look
forward to continuing our learning once we get to the DR. Our next number of
days will be filled with the last couple of days of classes, finishing packing, and saying
good bye to many students, teachers, and others in the community that we got to
know during our time here. The name of our family blog is “The Best of Times,
The Worst of Times” and that is very true for us right now.
When
Karen and I were in the DR a couple of weeks ago we took some pics of the house
that we will be moving into when we arrive next week. We will most likely be in
that house until about the middle of August or so then will be moving to a
different one in town. The second home will probably be our home for the
duration of our time there. Here are two pics of first temporary house.
It is, how do you say, RATHER BIG! It has beds for at least
14 people. 5 bath rooms and a big kitchen.
It also has a tree house (in a palm tree), a trampoline and an above
ground pool. It is not exactly neither what we had in mind nor what we were
looking for, but it was what was available for right now. The people that were
renting it have moved back to the states for a few months then will return
again this fall. We feel fortunate to have something like this available for us
as it is not uncommon to have to live at the SI base for a number of weeks during
the transition time of arriving. We are so happy that God had a place like
this for us to move into during that transition time. We appreciate the prayers
and only ask that you keep them coming as that is one of the best ways to
support us.
